CAPTURING PEOPLE AND THEIR PLACES IN CINEMATIC FINE ART PORTRAITS
I’m not your run-of-the-mill sit and smile portrait photographer, but a visual storyteller. As an experienced press and travel photographer, I create environmental portraits that tell the story of a time or place using natural and artificial light, as well as film and digital capture. My portrait assignments are carefully curated to ensure every element of the story is captured and told in the best possible light.
STORIES CELEBRATING INCREDIBLE PEOPLE AND THEIR WONDROUS PLACES.
Before you ask, no, Tristan Lucas is not a crazed serial killer! He creates special effect prosthetics for sci-fi and horror movies from his suburban living room! Heads and Tales is a personal project that started out as a few photos of people who call some of my favourite places home, but evolved into something far more extraordinary. It’s a chance for me to use my skills for good (and not evil!), sharing stories through imagery of inspiring people doing extraordinary things in the places they love most. Driven by private and public funding, Heads & Tales will continue to grow, hopefully making the world a better place one photo at a time. If you have a story to tell, or know of someone that is doing great things, or if you’d like to support this project, absolutely reach out via the ‘Say Hi’ page – I’d love to hear from you!
DESTINATION WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY FOR CLIENTS WHO APPRECIATE BEAUTIFUL PHOTOGRAPHY
There is so much more to destination weddings and elopements than simply the wedding day. I should know, I was a destination bride! Capturing the events leading up to and following the wedding day are just as important as the wedding day itself, not to mention showcasing the destination and ensuring every detail of the wedding day is captured forever. My wedding specialty is destinations and elopements across Australia and the South Pacific. Combining experience as not only a wedding photographer, but travel and news photojournalist and portrait photographer, ensures all the fun of an escape with family and friends – or an intimate affair that is just the two of you – is captured by an Australian photographer that you can get to know before you go. All you need to do is relax and enjoy the fun of your wedding vacay.Same-day edits and a photographer on-hand also means your social media feeds will keep everyone back home up-to-date and excited to share in your escape from afar.
As a published travel photographer and photojournalist, some of my assignments have included climbing the flanks of an erupting volcano in Lombok, homestays and local baseball in Cuba, and hand feeding giant trevally in the pristine Cook Islands. Proficient in French and Spanish I like nothing more than immersing myself completely in the experience and location. I believe the responsibility of a great travel photojournalist is to create vivid stories through images and words, where the audience can imagine themselves in the picture.
